Categories in Detail

Categories help organise articles in the Knowledge Hub and control how they appear across the site. Here’s how they work:

You can assign one or more categories to an article using the WordPress editor. On the right-hand side, look for the Categories panel. You can:

  • Tick existing categories
  • Create new ones by clicking Add New Category
  • Remove categories by unticking them

There’s one category with special behaviour: Featured.

  • Articles marked Featured will be prioritised on the homepage
  • They won’t display a category pill on article cards
  • They’re excluded from the category filter on the Knowledge Hub page

This lets you highlight certain articles on the homepage without cluttering up filters or visual tags.

The homepage shows up to three articles — but how they’re chosen depends on categories:

  1. If there are Featured articles, the three most recent ones are shown
  2. If fewer than three are Featured, the remaining slots are filled with the most recent non-Featured articles
  3. If no articles are marked as Featured, it just shows the latest three overall

This gives you an easy way to control what appears on the homepage, without changing the publish dates or using extra settings.
